Barbara Marks’ wildlife paintings and carvings have been inspired by a lifelong love for North American big game and their habitats.

Marks was born in Minneapolis to British parents. After finishing school in Cheshire and teaching in Bristol, she ventured into the wilds of Wyoming, where she began an art career in Jackson Hole, carving antler bone and wood.

“My work has been shaped by the many places I’ve lived and visited,”she said. “Geographical and cultural differences are reflected in my art. I also like to create a sense of movement and convey exuberance and joy.”

Marks presently lives in Whidbey Island, Washington State, where she continues to paint. See more of her work here
