I am an Alaskan-born artist whose work is shaped by my experiences in the wilderness of the American West. Growing up surrounded by so much open space in Alaska has ingrained in me a huge love for landscapes and my work reflects that. I am primarily a painter who focuses on the gestural shapes and shadows of a place, but I experiment in other mediums as well. Although I have classical training, my style is ever changing to reflect the varying nature of the natural world.
The title image of this listing is a piece of particular importance to me, a large linoleum print on rice paper. I created it after being mauled by a Grizzly bear while running in the backcountry of Alaska in 2015. Creating this was part of my healing process, and the image is one of wildness, both the fear it creates and all the ways in which we should be thankful for it. I would be happy to share more details about the piece.
Thank you for your interest and I hope you find your own inspiration in what I have to offer here! More of my work is available for view at my personal website, which you can find by googling my name.
